If you are interested in 'uncapping' (removing the speed limit) your Motorolla Surfboard modem you should check http://www.iscentral.org/~tcniso/ . You should be aware that your ISP can read your settings and probably will ban you if they discover you did some modifications.

Banning is a mild term -- charging you with theft of service (criminal case) and suing for damages (civil case) is more likely what will happen. Then not only will you be out a lot of money you will also be back on dialup. =)

Does AT&T use motorola surfboards? I didn't think they did.

AT&T Worldnet does use them according to the site. It also mentions that they are actively scanning for uncapped modems =/.
Uncapping would have been great if you were one of the few people who knew how to do it, but its all out now and very obvious and risky. Not worth the trouble...

eh, the people r fgts that come over to my house for att anyways..they are allways dumb mexicans or poor white trash repair men...I had to help them wire up the cable through the house..lame.
