no he wasnt, you see him start to limp immediately,you here the spray of the plaster from the bullet penetrating the drywall after exiting his leg, and blanks dont sound like that =P

(1) He was strutting like that before he "shot" himself in the leg.

(2) I've seen someone shot before (on accident with a 22 - far smaller than the 9mm in the glock 40)...unless that guy has nuts of steel, it was either a blank or a glancing shot. I bet it was the first scenario. Also, the film sucks, but I think that is discharge from the gun, not plaster..once again it's hard to tell.

If this was planned (which I seriously doubt it), then that is a horrible method to make a point.
a) if using live ammo, that's one dumb motherfucker (as the round could ricochet)
b) if using a blank, that's one dumb motherfucker (as the round could ricochet)

...looking at the video it seemed that everyone was caught off guard, even that idiot.
...it did not come off as him trying to show everyone that mistakes can happen on purpose, but rather that idiot trying to somehow turn a lawsuit into a "learn from me that mistakes can happen"

I think that moron used live ammo, and fucked up, and damn nearly either shot himself or somebody else..... just like that video of that Nevada police woman who nearly blew off some guys head while pointing her gun at him.
