Well i had a little chat with my friends about downloading from the internet, pretty much everything from porn, music, games, list goes on. We have a group in denmark that tracks down people who download from the internet(think every does) Now my question is, whats the possibility of getting caught? Im using Peer to peer download, torrent.
Hope we got some nerds who knows this shit and can reply =E because i dont wanna get caught and be fucked for the rest of my life, no way i can pay the 700000$ ill be getting if that happens

I have had 3 friends who have gotten letters about that stuff. 2 of them used Direct Connect, and one used Bittorrent. In each case it was just a warning, but none the less still scary. They basically tracked down certain files they downloaded awhile back and told them if they dont take it out from being shared, then they will sue them for tons of money, each person just deleted everything they downloaded in fear of getting in trouble, haven't downloaded and haven't gotten letters since. I however still download stuff all the time and have yet to get anything, so /shrug.

Hence why you do not share files. If you don't share them, the risk of being caught is lessened.

Totally false.
You'll get a cease and desist first if caught, and if you continue to download then legal action occurs. I find it hard to beleive theres a group who specifically tracks this in Denmark, not only would it be a huge invasion of privacy, but it would be a stupidly massive task.

There is Zdlr. They are called APG and funded by the music industry. Basically it's a team of lawyears that send bills to people who DL.

Yeah, but they don't monitor exactly what you do in co-operation with the ISP right? They use similar tactics to RIAA and MPAA but just hopping on popular torrents/p2p and noting down IP addresses of main offenders and distributors?
That's how I guess it would work, and if thats the case its like finding a needle in a haystack, since p2p/bit torrent is international and they'd have to work hard to find specific downloaders from Denmark.
If that was the case, find a public proxy (do some google searches and you'll find lists) and operate through a proxy, and that will make you appear to be coming from whatever country the proxy is hosted. The organisation tracking it down would then have to find the proxy's owner and get them to hand over logs. Generally public proxy's are ones that aren't set up correctly, and if based in another country, your danish laws won't have jurisdiction there, getting you off the hook.

The best way to get in trouble, is to talk about it. So STFU and just do it.

They mostly track those who share the files not those who download, in fact I cant recall a single case where a downloader was harrased.
That's mostly because the people monitoring these things aren't the FBI and shit with all knowing powers, it's just lawyers and their payroll of nerds finding ppl to prosecute, therefore if you're downloading, from kazaa lets say....yeah they can find your IP if youre sharing their shit for them to download, but how the fuck would they catch you downloading? They don't hack into the people's comps who are sharing this stuff and look for everyone they uploaded to. They just nab the ones doing the sharing, its easier and its common sense.
p.s. basically just dont leave your p2p progs running unattended and don't leave the copyrighted shit out to be shared.
