Anyone know how to run multiple copies of EQ using EQW?

I think you just start up another EQW window.

You have to install eq into another directory, then install eqw into that directory as well. Start up one version of eqw, then when you fully logged in, you start up the second. Or so i been told.

Yeah I just did all that, and I also downloaded memturbo 2, to help me recover RAM. Don't think my measly 382 MB of RAM and 466 mhz processor can handle it.

Damn, there goes my self PLing plan :(

You do not need a separate install directory. Just run EQW twice.

Unless you have a very good machine, however, you will get some not so stellar performance.

Just read your machine specs -- don't try it, the only levelling you'd be doing is delevelling. =)

Hmmm every time I...err my friend tried to run eqw from the same directory it would crash them. It cant handle using the same zone files. And 382 mb isnt really enough i was using 764 with a 500 mhz processor, but my problem was coming from the vid card, i only have 32 mb card and it was running out of memory if i played then logged and tried to log back in. I would have to reboot :P

I have a 64 mb card, 382 RAM, and 466 mhz processor. The problem is my RAM/Processor.

You copy the Everquest folder and it's contents. This should also copy a new EQW if you already have it installed if not install EQW to the two EQW Directories (this is so you can have 2 different EQW.INI files for setting window position.

Also, go into the EQW.ini file, and set:

[Foreground]
Vsync=FALSE
MaxFPS=30

[Background]
Vsync=FALSE
MaxFPS=30
Update=FALSE
PriorityBoost=TRUE

Then in the EQclient.ini

Turn all luclin models off.
Turn Velious armor off.
Make showgrass=FALSE
Turn off dynamic lighting.

Basically make sure EVERYTHING is off.

Also when you're loading one of them, make sure you go into options and turn the sound off so that the overhead isn't called for the sound module twice.

Make sure that when you run EQW that you have both windows stacked on each other to where you can only see one window at a time. This way you're not using more RAM and video RAM then you should be.

You should also download a memory manager. I recommend
Mem Turbo 2.1 (http://www.memturbo.com) you need to SCRUB the RAM. If you have a load of fragmented RAM EQ will give you problems.

I just fired up two copies of EQW from the same directory and logged in on each account with no issues. I am running under WinXP Pro -- not sure if it matters but it can and does work although I use two boxes if I want to two box. =)

eqwindows was broken with the latest patch, but i'll give you my advice on running 2 at once since i used to do it a lot.

do a clean install of windows xp, goto this webpage and turn off all the services you dont needhttp://www.blackviper.com/WinXP/service411.htm

once that's done your system should be flying, i only have a p3 600 with 128 ram and i'm able to run 2 copies of eq with no troubles. couple notes, keep the windows overlapping and turn off sound. i don't know why i'm even typing this out there's a sticky thread over at hackersquest.org with all this info just go there.

btw, since eqwindows is now broken i'm not going to play much anymore, its just too frustrating to not be able to do anything else on my computer while i wait for 5 minutes to regain my mana :/
