is going good :D, another week down and only 3 more to go before I get back to Vancouver. Man, some of the pics I got are pretty good, doing helicopter trips almost every day and wielding machette's for teh win :p.. pretty much need to though with all this devil's club out here (for thoughs who dont know what it is, the plant is a sprawled out tree which has thousands of thorns which can easily pierce through any clothing, leaving you with infected blisters). Sometimes this job feels like EQ... its no joke either, ill walk through areas that are split like zones and in this one place it feels like im walking through the burning woods on kunark (its actually a burn area or forest fire range, strange that the trees are still very warm even after a year, could be the acidity). As for wildlife they seem to smell my camera when im comming up the mountain so they all disappear but lo and behold when the camera is in my pack there will be 3 blackbears sitting within hands reach on the roadside watching us drive by. Lol, best part is following them (safely) and watching them literally bounce down the hill.. you would almost think they were just one fluffy rubber ball rather than 150kg of muscle :D. While on the job days will melt into eachother (as i work 7 days a week for a month straight) so you never know what day it is. Anyways, ill try to get some pics up here, hopefully sooner than later ( if people would stop hogging the digital cameras to take pictures of rocks :p )

Im working for a Mineral Exploration company, were basicly doing rock/soil/stream samples to determine where gold is located. This is my first job of this type so im second lowest on the totem pole (so im basicly the guy who runs around with the peons doing all the gps/ipak/compass/mapping while they do the digging ^_^). Lately we have been doing grids (usually 1000m by 500m in size) and we just walk around taking samples every 50m. The pics I have currently just dont do it justice, you will be walking along in an open field and then have to trudge through a thick forest or thorn ridden creek. The best has to be going in the helicopter, this guy is nuts compared to the last pilot, fucking divebombs off the sides of mountains to make his job "more exciting". Lol, you definately have to be in shape for this kind of work though, its not easy at all going through a burn area with a 40 pound pack and 200m worth of elevation. But ya that just about sums it up :)

wow that sounds really sweet. What was your major in college? Took an intro geology class and our professor showed us slides when he used to survey and shit. I think he surveyed for oil using zircons or some shit like that.

I really dont have a specific area I want to go in Geology yet, but ill probably go for a specialization in hard rock geo (such as petrology). Just in second year atm so this just gives me a good idea of what kinds of jobs are out there in the field.
Where are you going to college and what is your major Skcalidrone?

I'm a rising junior at Vanderbilt University in Nashville. A strong liberal Arts medium sized (6k undergrads) university thats located downtown. I'm here with Wuzawuza.
I'm a studio arts major, so not very practical haha, but I'm hoping the Vandy diploma will help me get a job at a design company. Gonna take a few years off and then go to grad school for industrial design, or perhaps graphic design.
Allowing myself a lot of flexibility to do what I want after school...not lock myself into any jobs or anything haha.
edit: TYPO!!

Ya that doesnt sound to bad at all, there is always a demand for graphic design for nearly anything we look at :P. Lol, and i dont think you need to worry about locking yourself into a job this day and age, job security is horrible wherever you go. Hell, a few years back people without a minimum of a Bsc couldnt get the job that I have right now so I got a pretty sweet deal. Only problem is that its all contract and nothing perminent.. so your basicly always looking from one company to the next for more work.
Fuck man, i was just thinking about your name and I serious to god remember seeing a Iksar named Skcalidrone on Rallos Zek. It was probably on my Shaman Matrasik but im getting a flashback of this guy being a monk and leveling in that big pit and the guy falling from the top working on his drop resistance :D
Anyways its cool that ya got a buddy with ya there, every fucking person I talk to at school looks at me funny when I bring up online gaming like they never heard of it before and ive taken it as a lost cause... it seems people who play online games never leave there computers :P. You would think being in Vancouver with 50% of the population being asian that I would find like one fucking person who plays Warcraft or anything but everyone just cares about there schooling, its blowing my mind how blindly devoted these people are to there textbooks. -_-

Lol yeah, right?
I start summer classes and instantly meet two other Asians (I'm asian), one who doesn't play anything but Halo2, and the other just plays console RPGS and FF11. Like wtf, poor representation. I wanted to CS:S or WC3 with some of them over LAN or something, but they're just glued to their consoles. Anyways Im bumming like an RPG a week off of one of them, so at least hes worth something =P.
And yes I did spend a lot of time in the Field of Bone lol. Ocasionally if I was bored/in the area I would definately occupy myself by training the newbie ramp lol. I miss the days. I used to roll with Guznuk, pretty infamous troll shaman, but all this was only months before DB got disbanded on RZ. I was in HiV more during the time with River, Rahne, Daefura, Appletwoc, Relicc, Seiunea.

You know it was strange, I was looking for a group one day on RZ and I get a tell from some HIV guys who were leveling in this one area and I get over there and they practically surround me (must have been when I was in Rop). Lol, just the way they were standing around me I thought I was going to get thwacked but I guess they really needed a healer ^_^. Still wonder what River/Apple/Relicc/Rahne/Aagatha are up to, probably playing wow or something~
