Apparently this comes out Oct. 31st, 2006. Has anyone played the demo? I guess it has something called a gambit system where you can actually program your guys ( logical gates ) to react to any fight and the game plays itself? Dunno. Some reviews hail it as one of the better games to be released and then some reviews say you write some script crap and it goes on autopilot for most of the fights. Just curious on seeing what some of you thought about this or if you have been following.
Thx~
I have and played the demo quite a bit. I like it alot.
Its more MMORPG like in that you see the enemies on the field and you attack them, live, no breakaway scren to the same exact fight location, you fight them on the screen, like a MMORPG. As for the gambit system, that wasn't in the demo but from what I gather, you find different "gambits" and then you can tell your other party members when you're not in control of them to follow those gambits. Stuff like "When health below X % heal my arse" I think.
Its very different from previous FF's and i'm lookin forward to it, and the FF3 remake on DS, and the FF Remake on GBA......
my FF plate is full.

I played the Japanese version, and yes its a mini-ai for your charaters. If *** < 50% use heal potion, If *** is effected by sleep, use wake me up potion, the list go on and on. I personally like the system, since it is Real-time turn based. Only draw back is if you dont set the script right(priority list for the commands of the gambit system), your charaters can end up dying themselves because they were too busy doing something else. You can still override the system, when your fighting, but it will go back to its auto-ai when you finished that turn. The challenge in the game is where it is hard to consider which monster isnt a fucking elemental boss, I ran into a couple thinking they were just regular mobs. It is sooo easy to far min this game espically if you have your AI script set right, you just run into mobs and hack set it on auto and goto the restroom

So now instead of just pressing x over and over and oer and over and over and over to get to the next cutscene , you just sit there and watch all the stupid random battles go on by themselves?
Wow , sounds fun.

I haven't even pre-ordered yet. At this rate even if I do buy it I'll get to play about 1-2 hours per week. =/
6 more days...
I haven't either but I WILL have it. Either before or after it goes on sale.

First impressions? I bought it but haven't got a chance to touch it yet. I might get to watch whatever the opening though before I go to work tomorrow IF I'm lucky!
I love it, its very MMORPG like with a great story. I'm only 9 hours in though.

How was the opening? Didn't get a chance to watch it =/
Awesome enough for me to watch 3 times and probably again when I get home. I liked it.
Only huge issue for the game.... WTB Nobuo Uematsu to do the music :(

Still haven't played...how many hours in Buto? One of my friends got it the day it came out and said he played till 7 am in the morning and then went to work at 11....haha ouch. Is it still really good?
Yes, I really like it. I don't know where to place it in the list of Final Fantasy's top 5 but I'm definitely going to play through it, maybe even twice.

I really like the pace. The speed of the fights is really fun, and then you get a good deal of story, right when you need a breather. I'm personally finding it a lot more challenging than the other ones, like I'm actually using my inventory, as opposed to stocking up 99 of each item.
Only thing I'm missing is good fight/boss music =/. Although the Final fantasy 2 prologue music that they play during the intro is probably my favorite final fantasy music of all time, and I was so glad to hear it.

I bought the game. Im such a hypocrit ^_^
To bad it looks like shit on my hdtv. Fuck ps2 for not up converting.
That's another gripe of mine I guess, but its not Square's fault. if you've played 360 the game looks bad at parts. Some of it is still amazing though. Can't really compare PS2 vs 360 graphics.
gameplay is very nice/fun and extremely easy to adapt to. Dunno.. just beat it so wasn't too happy with the longevity of it.

hoyl shit it hasnt even been out a week
That's pretty fast Once, what was your /played?
I could see rushing through and only getting quickenings, you could probably kill every boss in the main story with just two sets of quickening attacks.

The other part about this game that makes it easy is you can give all charaters the same abilities as others, instead of depening on 1 hero doing all the healing, protection, etc... if you max out the chart, your charater is basically unkillable and can change strats if the mob decides to change its strat too.

i took a break from ffxii since gears of war has been out and beat that in a day on co op and have been playing it on XBL everyday since then.
is ffxii open ended when you beat the final boss or do you have to save right before and accomplish everything u want before you go and beat the last boss
save before you enter bahamut and you can do whatever you want
