Gay, I have to be nice to you then - since I'm playing the same team/server :(

Not sure I'm taking it past the free month though, I played the game since exclusive beta and I'm not sure I like it. There's a couple of things that still really bug me, the #1 being the reduced role of FPS skill in actual combat in PS. The cone of fire system makes it very 'noobish' and takes a lot of the skill out of the system. Any noob can be a Terran, buy a cycler or hop in an Dual Cycler Max and just own up, because spray and pray is the only way to go. Low rate of fire / accurate weapons don't really exist or do anything, since Cone of Fire makes the whole concept of well aimed shooting pointless. Planetside also rewards the zerg, and hardcore. Because of the fairly skilless nature of the game, you can't deal with superior numbers (you can, but to a point) nearly as well as you could in a game like UT2k3 or CS/DOD, etc. This plus the lattice system makes zerging the best strategy. For example, people in beta were already making 200+ person outfits, which is very ... lol?

I like the game, I think, despite all that. I'm not sure I like it enough to pay 13 bones a month for it. I'll probably go back to playing Tribes2 and UT2k3 after my month is up, but we'll see - if the game continues to progress I might stick around. I think the Cone of Fire system and the mass zerging that is bound to happen after release will finally piss me off though.

I'll be Velael in PS as well, shoot me a tell in-game when you guys are on, we'll blow some shit up.

The http://www.myplanetside.com is a pretty cool feature though :)

The game is fun as hell from my first night of playing. Gonna do a review later though. But I agree with your conclusions that i have knowledge of.
