Thought this was interesting:

Will there be other things to do besides leveling?
There will be a huge variety of things to do to keep players from feeling like they just have to grind through one creature battle after another. Characters can craft items, fight in vast battles against other players, establish homes, and explore distant lands. Even when players do fight monsters, it will often be as part of a quest, or in search of special ingredients for their crafts.

tHIS ONE APPEARS NEW: (dern caps lock)

What type of PvP will you offer?
We know that the player vs. player (PvP) option is very important to many gamers. Therefore, we plan to incorporate a form of player conflict into the World of Warcraft. However, players who do not wish to be participate in PvP combat will not be required to do so. The PvP system will be incorporated in a consensual way that will be fun for those who wish to take part in this form of combat. Announcements regarding PvP options in the World of Warcraft will be announced in the months ahead.

And about the beta (new info):

When will the beta start?
The beta is expected to begin in Q3 (sometime between August and October), and it will be done in stages. That is all the information we have at this time; please watch the World of Warcraft site for any news regarding the beta.

At the very least, they have mentioned it many times and are thinking about it during development which is saying alot more then they did for EQ....and even EQ2 which has openly said it will NOT be a PvP game. (although i suspect they will have pvp servers again like they do for EQ1).

I enjoyed browsing the WoW website yesterday....lots of cool pics...made me even more excited it. I am gonna try to get Lesa and i in the Beta.

Bleh. You know, time is our most valuable resource. I am not saying one will be better then the other andnot gonna say my gaming time will go in one and not the other for sure, but i can say that i need to make a prediction and make some conrete plans. As such:

Sony is juggling how many games now? How much resources going into ALL of these games? PS, EQ, SWG, EQ2...others? Will this effect how much talent and money they can funnel into EQ2? Are they just gonna bang out EQ2 to rake in the obvious money they are gonna get for it's name and fans? And do you think they really give a shit about PvP in it?

Fact is, Sony has proven they are overwelmed by its fans and basically do not have the resources to listen to many of us. ESPECIALLY the PvP crowd. Sure, some things got fixed, but i got fucking BANNED for corpse camping....and that is now legal. How fucking retarded is that? And that is just a teeeeeeny winey thing....i mean look at the debacle they made of SZ. They had a chance to make SZ an AWESOME server if they just fucking listened to us during the beta. EVERYONE said the evil team was WAY overpowered and they opening said we were wrong. They just have a serious problem with admitting they are wrong and listening to us.

We have given Sony a chance many years to do something with PvP in EQ. And they just fuck us over and over. We point out flaws....and they pretty much ignore us or get to it a year later.

For this reason, I am putting my money in WoW and gonna give them a chance to do better. Blizzard is all about PvP (starcraft and wc series are mostly pvp) and know wtf balance is. If they put this game together as good as they have put together their other games (and figure out how to do the networking), I suspect Sony will begin to feel their continued poor treatment to such as us.

IN the mean time I will keep giving them my money to play planetside ;p hehe fuckers

Well, while looking for the appropriate contact info regarding a guild beta account, I came across this quote:

Most of our beta testing is done by our in-house quality assurance staff. Occasionally we do hold a public beta test for our products, and we will post news on our web site when we are conducting such a test. Testers are chosen on a per-product basis, and only during specific sign-up periods. Please, do not contact us about being a beta tester.

Prolly will piss em off if i go emailing them.

unless there are servers with all pvp the game is not worth looking at, why would anyone want to play a game where 90% of the world is blue and the 10% that isnt ends up a ghost town.

ive played UO atlantic after trammel, where half the world was blue and half was red, the red half was completely devoid of players even after they made it have double resources and champion scrollspawns there.

ive played dark age of camelot where 1/2 the game was a protected inner realm zone, and watched as 70% of the playerbase never once left their realm gates to fight another player.

so unless they have servers that are entirely pvp the game is complete dogshit, and even then it is quite likely to still fucking suck since changes will be made with pve in mind with little regard to the pvp impact, had enough of that in EQ.

Bleh, that is my favorite pic! I am guessing that is a Teant and those are Gnolls they are fighting. Looks seriously cool. But yeah, i will remove it, when i do next update cause it will keep it scrolled over like that otherwise.

Taken from FAQ

How is death handled in the game?
A character will remain where he or she died for a reasonable amount of time (to allow for possible resurrection) or until the player chooses to "release" the character. After the player releases the character or the designated amount of time has passed, the character will reappear at a bind point with all of his or her equipment safely intact Although there might be some penalty attached, our goal is to make sure that a character's death is not overly frustrating for the player.

Dying to a player could be different, we have to wait and see.

GrayRage

That's sort of like PS is. You sit above your corpse like a ghost until u push the respwn button. You can see everything goin on around your corpse and can take the option of being rezed by a healer guy.

I have to tell you guys, I was never very fond of item loot. I always wore full resist gear and really got agravated fighting people with full no drop....or even naked when i was not allowed to kill them over and over (i got warning for killing people to many times in a certain period of time and even got banned for it on RZ).

Frankly, I like killin folks for the simple fun of killing them. I hope they make it personal though and not easy to die or kill so that being killed will involve some extensive shitalk.

The trouble with PS (or not depending on your view) is dying and killing is common. If you die...it's routine. If u kill someone, its just the 800th guys u have killed this week.....

It's all speculation now, but u gotta admit those pics i put up on the news page are awesome! Holy crap.

Gray dunno if they were joking or whatever, but on SiN's front page they said they e-mail to get into wow beta as a guild already. So you should too~

And Dan, I'm playing EVE online now with a few people. It's a real interesting game, first time anything since EQ thats kept me up late at nights ;p Should look into it if you can afford it. Game runs great, almost no bugs, graphics/interface are amazing pvp is definatly more hardcore then eq or sb.

I will look into emailing them not as a request for beta, but simply to enter us as a "fan site". I will bring up the beta in the email and try to make it look like that's not the real reason for it, but i saw several places where they discouraged folks from asking about beta accounts, and frankly i don't want to be the one who ignores those warnings.

Also, I am not so sure i am ready to believe anything a guild who harbor the likes of Arty (Rwei-Artemis) who stole Arty from Damphier knowing he stole the account back even after i supplied them with the facts he was not kicked. But this is off topic and prolly a pointless rant  (but i won't forget that).

If anyone does find any hard evidence that they have or are giving our guild beta accounts, lemee know and gimee links tot he info so i can pursue it. In the mean time, I will come up with some sort of letter in an effort to gain such an account (s).
