I sent the letter and will post it here (editing my phone number and such from the butt pirates who might read it and give it tot he pornao sites like u did with my email...bastads). Hope they respond, but if not, we will follow the game's production as best we can here and in the private forum I will create as release date comes closer.
Greetings!
Darkenbane, an online gaming guild since 1995 (www.darkenbane.com) has recently almost unamously to commited ourselves to World of Warcraft when it is released and even before (following production). We have been an organized guild since the Ultima Online beta (and played UO for 2 years), EQ beta (and played EQ on 2 servers - both PvP - until recently), Shadowbane (some of our guys are still playing Shadowbane, but no one is terrifically pleased with the game) and Planetside (about 20 of us are playing Planetside and enjoying it, but it's longevity is questionable).
There are about 40 core people in Darkenbane with hundreds who associate with us (either as friends or foes). We are an "Old School" guild which provides a home to many hardcore gamers to communicate and organize as a group to enjoy the games we play. Presently we are spread out among several games which, frankly, sucks.
It is our hope that World of Warcraft will be our "savior", so to speak, bringing us all back to one game and our old glory. So far, the guild's enthusiam has been outstanding. Some have brought up EQ2, but most agreed that Sony has had it's time with us, and we have agreed to go with WoW (I am sure some will buy and play EQ2, but we will not play it as an organized guild).
The reason for this letter is to advise of our decision and ask to be placed on any mailing list you might have with information releases regarding the game and/or any upcoming beta test (which we would be honored to participate in). Our members have an extensive history with online games and have tested many. We understand that the beta is not just for US to play the game early, but to also have input on it's final development which would be our greatest desire. I can be reached at Grayrage@darkenbane.com or edited. Our members mostly all have fast access lines as well for large downloads.
Most respectfully,
GrayRage D'Bane

They responded quickly to us which was nice, but said there is no special sign up or anything. Basically we all need to be aware of when the sign up opens up and do it. We need to fill it out right ass well ;p My guess is a good bunch of us will get in. Anyhow, here is the response:
Hello GrayRage,
Thanks for your interest in our upcoming massively multiplayer online game, the
World of Warcraft. It is exciting to watch a game like World of Warcraft come
together, and one especially exciting part of the process is watching the game
community begin to take notice of your project. Unfortunately, we are too early
in to offer anything to you. According to the World of Warcraft Frequently Asked
Questions (http://www.blizzard.com/wow/faq/faq_misc.shtml), the beta is expected
to begin in Q3 (sometime between August and October), and it will be done in
stages. I cannot offer special notice or signup information that is not already
available. That is all the information we have at this time; please watch the
World of Warcraft site (http://www.blizzard.com/wow/) for any news regarding the
beta.
Regards,
Nathan L.

SWG is gonna blow man. and I for one are not gonna be verant/SOE's whore again.

I am not even interested in SWGs. PS is alot of fun and will keep me busy until WoW (or eq2 which i am sure i will at least look at).
I am not gonna bad mouth Sony tho. They did create my two favorite games so far (EQ and PS). How can i shit talk that?
EQ provided some of the funnest times of my gaming hobby. PS is like a constant gaming high (but that really busts your ass after a period of time). Props to them, but SWG is just not my cup of tea.

I bad mouth their customer service, and they idiot guides/gm's. But as for the game factor, it's a very very fun game. (EQ PS)

Well, u gotta figure 500,000 people is alot of folks to CS for....especially at only 10 bucks a month per person. I mean look at yer cell phone, electric or home phone bill.....or cable/sat tv.....it all around at least $40/month. Perhaps our phone companies and such have a little higher costs then sony in maintaining the game, but i doubt its THAT much. Alot of the money we pay to our utiltites is for CS, but people won't pay much more for a game per month...thus the first thing suffers....CS.
Although i do recall paying $3/hour to play NWN on AOL in like 1992 or some shit ;p

Not like any of those level 10's would find it hard to use MQ or SEQ, I loaded one up once just to see it's capabilities. I hope people dont make those programs for WOW...it really ruins EQ when you can /target and /face someone from across the zone ;p

They need to ask someone with some experience at finding cracks in games to start cracking WoW for them full time so they can stay ahead of the cheaters. I also hope they are staying on top of this. Sony has alot of experience with fighting the crackers for years...they have done many counters to SEQ and MQ.....but they still exist. And yes, i wish they did not exist...the only reason we may have used such tools is to remain competetive with those enemies who we knew were using it as well.

Anything can be hacked, it's only a matter of time. Blizzard has a history of people hacking their games, lets see if they can stop this trend with WoW.

im starting to think these blizzard cocksuckers are worse than sony's. They are fucking ignorant and it looks like they are going to cater to the bluebies. Mine as well play eq.

I agree, but we'll have to see when beta comes out, because then we'll know for sure. I would think they would incorporate at least one pvp server because there is a huge market for pvp, and blizzard is all about money.
Astoron

I dont think I've every seen a game made by Blizzard that doesnt have a pvp server. Think about it. Even Diablo 2 which was so not a good pvp game had a pvp server. I think you guys are getting upset about nothing here. There will be pvp, end of story. Look at the video! Do you think they would of showed pvp in the video if there wasn't going to be pvp? I think they would of just left it out.
GrayRage

There will be PvP in WoW. I have little doubt of that. Additionally, there will be easily enough folks who want PvP for them to justify at least one all pvp server. I am not sweating this.

Sorry to say, but I just heard that a big chunk of the project got nuked and they are restarting the game engine from scratch. Seems someone screwed up. I am currently looking for a more substantial news source atm.
