-Sony 16 DvD ROM $36.88
-(2) 512 DDRAM 32mx8 pc-3200 RAM (corsair) $216

I will take lIsa GEforce 4 and put it in my system and give her old system (a 1 ghz amd which will have a geforce 2 64 meg) to our nephew (a upcoming DBer!).
So for 841 bucks lisa will have a system with a decent main board, good processor, awesome memory (a gig!), 256 meg video card (yeah i know the fx5600 is not the best, but look at that price! :) It should run pretty damn good :)

nice.
I'm looking for a p4/non asus mb (i think asus mb suck balls, im using one right now and my usb ports periodically short out and don't work, also i noticed my system bus goes slower than actually projected =*(, but thats because i got it in a bundle because i was too cheap to buy a real MB)
I'm waiting for WoW to actually ship before i put new parts (including 2gigs of 2100ddr ram) in my machine... but as much as i want too ill end up upgrading it before wow comes out for games like HL2 and tribes: vengeance
[edit] my piece of crap system =
1.533ghz athlon xp proc
512mb ddr ram (1600 gay~!)
Radeon 9700 pro (only good thing)
sound blaster live (like 4.0 version = gay)
custom made case from coolerguys.com (badass stuff there)
80gig 12mb cache hard drive

Yeah, i've been going there for years now for all of my coolent stuff, it's a tad expensive (or around normal price now) but damn well worth it, and most of the cases are custom made... mine still had pencil marks for the cutting and design when i recieved it lol... of course mine is a weird (but cool) case.

Drop the corsair get kingston, its 1 gig and better bandwidth! Corsair is used for OverClocking mainly.
Kingston part number KVR400X64C3AK2/1Gig of 3200 memory.
180-190 dollars can get it at
http://www.gameve.com/store/vender_aopen.asp
Drop the ASUS Board you dont need it, get a EPOX 8RDA + @ newegg.com for 83 bucks! its a better board trust me on this.

No games out there support 256mb yet and there is no difference between a 128mb card and 256mb one. Also find yourself a Radeon 9700 Pro 128mb or 9800 Pro 128mb. Dont go cheaper on the video card, that geforce FX isnt a high grade Video Card!

I checked Ebay and Pricewatch.com for everything. Forgot about that Kingston memory coupon.....damn. Should have all the parts within a week, i am stoked to try it out. Will advise how it runs, but i am excited. She is upgrading from:
AMD 1ghz
512 mb slow generic crap ram
Slow generac main board
geforce 2 64 mb vid card
Should be a HUGE upgrade.

Its to late! hehe. One day they will support 256 megs and it will help i am sure. Also, i got the 256m one for pretty much the same price as the 128 m one.
The other cards u mentioned are just to damn much.
And i plan to overclock it!
I also did not want to buy a Sound card ( i heard the onboard nvidia one is pretty good).
In any case, it's all a moot point as orders were already placed and some of the stuff has been shipped!
I am, however, gonna do an ultimate rig in the next 2 months or so.
Gonn use the big dogs for this one. p4 3.2 geforce 5900 this one will be ......MINE MINE MINE! MUHAAAAA! Just have to sell Lisa's bard ;p

Found this neat Case (http://www.coolerguys.com/Merchant2/merchant.mv?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=001&Product_Code=840556099239&Category_Code=CS-Wind) dunno if i should buy that. might do it looks pimp hehe
Cancled my other order.. desided to wait till i have money to buy a new system for myself :p
gray why overclock if u have so much power?
Xondio
07-07-2003, 01:36 PM
Yeah no kidding dude, it's not safe, and if you fuck up they can tell and you can't get a replacement, it's like someone dropping their cell phone and coming to my work and wanting another one saying the cell phone came like that when they bought it....
anyway you have alotta power already, no need to overclock it.

Oh and as for cases, not to sound like a complete fucking nerd, here is a decent water-cooled case that would maximize your gaming...

Well, as i understnad it, the only reason not to overclock is cause of heat constraits. If you can cool it properly it should not cause to many problems as long as u don;t go nuts. Gonna dabble in it some but not go to crazy.
Xondio
07-07-2003, 02:28 PM
That and the chip is only capable of going certain extents. Heat restraints were a problem before the newer technology coolents.. but you can overclock it but don't overdo it and make sure it's properly cooled... but yeah i've overclocked my video card for PS a couple times and it's not a problem ;)

It's nice, unless you have friends that come over... i'd shoot my self in the face before I got something with a compressor lol, my friends (+girls) come over alot and i'd really not have that in my room ;)
but yeah either way it's a really nice case, one of the best out there
Danubi
07-07-2003, 03:43 PM
Well it dosnt make any sound. the case makes sure that no should at all comes out really.. friend has the same. can hardly hear it
But that system im gonna get cost alot like 2000 US$
Gonna save abit first, dont have 2000$ just laying around... but with that system im gonna fucking kickass to about everyone else :p
Xondio
07-07-2003, 05:11 PM
Any case that costs over 500 dollars really isn't worth it, might as well spend the extra 1500 on the best MB + processor

I dunno, imagine the conversation piece that will be. If u got the dough, it would be nice to have that kind of cooler. As i understand it, the hotter the stuff runs, the worse the performance. Sounds like the system u are building will run damn nice Dan.
Xondio
07-08-2003, 09:37 AM
Yeah, heres the conversation with my friends when they bring some girls over every friday night..
"What the fuck is that, is that attatched to your computer? wow, I think we'll stop bringing the girls over here.."
Jon = pwned :(
lol no jk, but yeah i would at least hide it, i only have a couple of friends who I played EQ with and thats about the only people I would really tell, besides you guys.

Well with that cooler i can do like -20 on my CPU. atleast
another picture.. of the compressor, i dunno if u took the time to read the rewiew but the compressor cant be seen. its hidden inside the computer.
http://www.bit-tech.net/images/review/163/Layout.jpg
Well ill save up some money now. will have my lovely system in a few months. And then some of the things will be cheaper :p yay

The nice thing about this Case is, that because it cools so godlike u can overclock your computer with like 600mhz+ and still u will run godlylike.
check this out... this PC im told makes alittle more noise than the one im getting does, but its just someone showing hes comp off.
My comp will almost look completely like hes. just with pink lite inside :p
Link Link (http://www.xsquad.dk/movies/vapoboot.wmv)
in the movie u see the VapoChill startup, And before it loads into windows its at a cool -15 in the CPU :p(btw he has a few more coolers attached to hes machine, thats why its makes that sound)and abit after windows is loaded its at -20 :p
