I spend like 5 days....i shit you not....5 days each year doing my taxes. And that is without being audited by the IRS! If they audit me god knows how much more time it will take.

Fact is, under the current system I pay WAY less taxes then if they implement this new bill (which is a federal sales tax instead of income tax). So why would i support something thast would cost me MORE money?

1. No fuckin' stress.
2. I would make up the money in the time i spend adding up ghey receipts.
3. Rich fuckers would also have to actually pay taxes.
4. Big rich corporations would actually have to pay taxes.
5. Under the table employees (illegal immagrants) would pay taxes.
6. Tourists would pay taxes


Fact is, the current system is a massive buarocratic (however u spell it) cluster fuck that exist right now ONLY because:

1. It allows people to cheat like hell.
2. It gives parasitic fuckers jobs.

So should we keep a system in place just so some rich folks can pay less then their fare share? Or should we keep this mess around so the IRS agent do not lose their jobs? Or the zillion accountants that live off the comfusing system? Or the zillion tax lawyers judges...an ENTIRE SOCIETY lives off this piece of crap system.

So tell me, what is the down side to a federal sales tax? A system that makes everyone pay a percentage of what you CONSUME to the federal governement. What is BAD about it?

1. IRS agents out of work?
2. Accountant out of work?
3. Lawyers out of work?

PS Incidentally, there are tax credits for stuff that is realistic for "write offs". Things like college, purchasing stuff for resale, perhaps mortgagae interest. All stuff u can send in and get a check at the end of the year fromt he feds for under this system.

Summary for those who did not want to read it:

The fairtax bill in congress now (which prolly has no hope of passing) is a proposal to ditch the current tax system and put in a federal sales tax. So instead of the government taking money out of your pay checks every month, they will simply charge you for everything you buy.

Now you minions who don't work yet might say "fuck that, I don;t have to pay any taxes now, why should i pay them via a sales tax?" Well, the new system has a built in credit for everyone to get some money back at the end of the year (just send in your credit and you get a big fat check from the fed gov.). Your credit will be based on how many people you support, whether you are going to school, if you are disabled...ect ect. But the BEST thing is you won;t have to file ghey returns.

When you get all growed up (little slang hehe) and have to start doing your taxes, you will appreciate the simplicity and fairness of such a system. As such, you should all take my word for it and support this bill (and then make me dictoator!).!!!

Im not even sure how it works in Canada because I havent been working very long the impression I get is that tax is automatically taken off every paycheck you get and at the end of the year you can show the govt your t4 (total money you have made that year) and if they screwed you you get a cheque with some of the money back

edit: From the simpsons I got the impression you have to PAY your taxes once a year not file returns, but I guess its the same in the US as it is in Canada :p

I already pay 8 1/2% sales tax on everything I buy in New York. If this was increased dramatically and if I didn't have to pay income tax, I would continue to buy property (which has no sales tax of course) and purchase all goods and services outside the United States.

This tax bill is a scam. It doesn't take into consideration import and excise taxes, the potential surge of ex-patriots and the fact that foreign governments and rich people (like myself) would simply not buy any avoidable goods or services outside the United States. By the way, the above considerations are just the tip of the iceberg.

P.S. I pay an accountant about 500 bucks and he takes care of all my tax worries. Usually I get back several thousand dollars at the end of May, so it all pays for itself. Might want to look into one, it'll save ya the hassle of dealing with 5 days of hell :D

As for buying goods outside the States, I never said I wouldn't declare those. Those goods would be exempt from any additional taxes because thats the way NAFTA was written. In turn, the foreign companies that currently have factories in the United States (Honda, Subura, SONY, etc.) will move all of their factories outside the States to avoid taxes. Talk about unemployment!

Lastly, I don't have an accountant to avoid taxes. I bill my clients at between $285-325/hour, so paying an account $500 bucks makes a lot of business sense. There are no scams, just my legitimate deductions. I usually only get back a few thousand anyways - a mere pittance.

Grow up and do some reading before you follow the masses. The website Gray had posted also had several links regarding the proposed "tax". Read those links. The articles described in detail that it wouldn't be only the sales of goods that were included in the tax. It would include almost every facet of life including the purchase of insurance (imagine my insurance for my S2000 then!) medical services (20% surchurge on life and death operations??) and of course, all REAL ESTATE TRANSACTIONS.
