View Full Version : Anybody know anything about this cpu error...

aight, my sister called me and said her computer was booting up in safe mode with minimized drivers and shit and shes getting some error about "cant read N:"...im figuring its some sort of virus cuz she downloaded her emails and shit, then after she shut down her computer it wouldnt reboot...if anyone knows how to get rid of this, lemme know....Tks guys.

N: could be the name of one of her harddrives.

I have C: D: G: R: U: myself.

If she has more then one harddrive u can tell her to boot on the other harddrive and check if that works. maybe something in windows is just fucked up and need a format :\ ^^

well, i figured that her hard drive needed a format as well....but when i tried "format c:" i got the same damn error..and she only has one hard drive. the damn pc wont even auto run her quick restore discs when you put em in and reboot...idno wtf is wrong with that compaq pos

i would boot with a bootable floppy and run FDISK and see what that brings up..

If you don't care waht is on the hard drive and want to reformat, just go into your bios settings, switch your boot up drive to cd-rom, save and restart. Have windows 2000 or higher in the cd-rom. At least you will be able to format you HD.
