Can you tell us more about the beta? Will there be different phases? Will there be an open beta? Will it require an NDA?
World of Warcraft is currently in the alpha-testing stage (internal testing open to the entire company). The beta test, which is scheduled to start sometime in Q4 2003, will initially be open to players in the U.S., Canada, and Korea. Participation will require an NDA. Similarly to how we've conducted beta tests in the past, we will gradually open up the beta to more and more testers in order to gauge server stability and connectivity. While we don't what the total number of beta testers will be yet, this will by far be our largest beta test ever.
this is teh suk for danish people :\

According to GFraizer in this thread on the official World of Warcraft forums, the official WoW FAQ will be updated soon. One can only speculate what kinds of new information it might bring. =)
In the meantime, why not check out our FAQ which contains everything the official FAQ does, plus our massive E3 coverage, and added context information from previews and interviews!
UPDATE: The official FAQ has been updated! That was soon, wasn't it?
Here's the new info:
Confirmed: WoW Beta initially US/Canada/Korea only!
Confirmed: Beta will have an NDA
Multiple payment methods other than credit cards
PvP Servers still aren't a sure thing
Two types of dungeons: micro dungeons that include tombs, haunted mines, ice caves, and sunken ships to name a few. No instancing in micro. World dungeons, which are grander in scale than micro dungeons, are specifically designed for more epic encounters. World dungeons include places such as Medivh's Tower, the Westfall Deadmines, and the Scarlet Monastery. There are areas which will be instanced within these areas.
An ancient, barbaric menace had emerged from the bowels of the earth and invaded the Gnomes' wondrous techno-city of Gnomeregan.
Confirmed: All the classes have now been announced.
Number of characters currently reduced to 8 from earlier reports of 10
Hair style, hair color, skin color, and facial features are confirmed customizable character creation features.
NEW: Some quests are called "life" quests and can span your entire adventuring career!
Engineering tradeskill confirmed! Create small mechanical critters to scout for you.
These will shortly be added to our FAQ.
Nubi post something we dont already know dude. Plus EQ2 hasn't annonced a pvp server yet either. Most likely they wont have it up anyways even if they do have one for 3 or 4 months.
Also heres the full post:
What type of PvP will you offer?
We know that the player vs. player (PvP) option is very important to many gamers. Therefore, we plan to incorporate a form of player conflict into the World of Warcraft. However, players who do not wish to be participate in PvP combat will not be required to do so. The PvP system will be incorporated in a consensual way that will be fun for those who wish to take part in this form of combat. Announcements regarding PvP options in the World of Warcraft will be announced in the months ahead.

Here the same FAQ on the EQ2 site
Will there be player-versus-player (PvP) combat?
Just as the original EverQuest was geared towards PvE (player vs. environment), EverQuest II has a similar focus. PvP combat will be possible, yet in a way that does not negatively affect non-PvP players.

After doing considerable research and after considerable debate, we have come tot he conclusion that WoW > EQ2 for DB and will be playing WoW. I am sure some DBers will play EQ2 which is all good, but I will be playing and organizing DB in WoW.
I am pretty sure at this point that Blizzard will address our PvP needs.
When the beta comes out, we will set up a private board for all core DBers (whether they got into the beta or not) to discuss stuff and prep for release. I am sure everyone will get the opportunity to play and learn the game (and help them fix bigs ect).

One thing i thought was pretty interesting. Many folks from AC1 tried out AC2 which was supposed to be the best game....blah blah blah.....they went back to AC1. EQ2....... Sony had their shot.

Well put as always Gray. I look at EQ2 and I say to myself damn look at those graphics. Looks great. Then i think about buying an expansion every 4 months to keep up with the best items and zones and the thought of it makes me sick. Sony sure does know how to get money out of a person. I just hope Blizzard doesnt do the same. I highly doubt they will.
