This is all for non-PvP based servers. Will there be a all PvP server is still a maybe, acording to that 'faq'. And "There will be no non-consentual PVP at all" is very misleading. That just means that outside of pvp zones there isn't pvp and inside there is. If you enter a pvp zone you can be PvP'ed. A large part of this game is built around some of the PvP'ing, guild battles, taking over things in the frontiers.

The PvP aspect of wow is being built into the game better then any previous MMORPG besides Daoc and SB which were all PvP based.

You cannot PvP or PvE on your mount. Devs felt this would give too many people an unfair advantage in PvP specifically, but also that it would interfere with some fighting animations.

The fact is even if they put in a PVP server, the PVP would probably suck ass. This is probably the reason why Blizzard is now saying "no PVP server", because they realize if they had one players would hate it because WoW has not been developed, or balanced with PVP in mind. It would be another afterthought PVP system.

If a game isn't built with PVP as a design focus from day 1, the PVP just won't work, in a MMOG enviroment it is too costly to rebalance the game later on for PVP and PVE without dulling down all the classes to be fair and balanced in PVP while keeping PVE dynamic.

There are a good number of PVP focused MMORPGs nearing/in beta.

Guild Wars
Lineage 2

If WoW didn't have "Warcraft" in the title it wouldn't be a big deal, I really see nothing innovative about WoW, and never have.

I've caught alot of shit about hating on WoW, and I as much as anyone have hoped it would be a blast to play, but from the way the devs address the community, and general feel of their site, I don't get a "game for gamers" vibe off of WoW, I get a "it worked for SOE vibe".

I am pretty sure there will be at least one server where it is faction based PvP full time everywhere. There is enough of a demand for it to warrant at least one (and likely more then one). In any case, I could care less. Gonna play WoW even if they don't have one single little teeeny weeny bit of PvP (because i know that is not gonna be the case).

according to link 2, there will be pvp, xondio. 10% of the world will be pvp. the question is, however, will the pvp be gimp. From the sounds of it, yeah.

About the quote from the dev team regarding the pvp server, they said "there will be no pvp server". However, this quote is misleading. That quote could be referring to INITIAL release of the game. SO, there may be a pvp server later down the road.

You may be right about pvp not being properly implemented since only 10% of the world is pvp, and is consentual. However, it doesn't sound like there COMPLETELY putting pvp off like Sony did. They may have pvp balanced. And if they have pvp balanced, and if there was a pvp server LATER down the road... then perhaps things will work out. but until more SOLID info is released or until beta is released, we won't be 100% sure of what wow pvp will be like.
