Some folks have tried to convince us to play FFXI in an organized group, but some things that prevent this:

1. The game has been out for year+ in Japan
2. WoW beta will be out soon...so why bother?

Fact is, playing a game that other people (Japaneese) have been playing for a year is not appealing to us. Goin' in as lowbies while they are already level 70+ is gimp....and now they are gonna add PvP? Oh joy...let's PvP versus guys who have been playing it for over a year.

Why start a MMPG after it's been out for a year? Surely not something you want to do as a guild IMHO. Gonna wait for WoW.

FFXI pvp got postponed to feb (atleast). Now this does'nt mean that we will actually see pvp in feb, which is why I quit.
Allthough its more unlikely we will see a WoW beta anytime soon =).

I cancelled my account. They would need pvp and a fresh US based server for me to play it. Pretty good pve stuff but way too time consuming and group dependant.

After hearing the delay in PvP I cut back quite a bit.

FFXI still has the best PvE I've ever seen but they only reason I ever engage in PvE is to gear and prepare my character for PvP.

Why the hell else am I gonna sit around and hack 80 different species of the same fucking crab model?

Not because I think it's a great way to pass time I can assure you.

No point in racing to build that Samurai / Thief if I can't rip someone a new one until February.

You'll love the experience and perhaps the delay until Feb would be good if there was commitment to play the game. However, when you learn that new skill or spell, you'll be left without that evil cackle when you think about the player on the receiving end of it... Just isn't there right now.

FFXI did have a server move option last week -- may still be in but I cannot confirm from here -- so there was an opportunity to join a server with more North American players. I stayed on the same server but if I can move, I may. The Japanese players are fine. Nice to group with and too helpful most of the time. Hell, some knew me from previous games and others treated me like I was some kind of celebrity... It's the goddamn North American beggars that make you want to pick another server. Sometimes I want to leave the parasites on the Japanese servers and play with others who earn their keep.

Some ass told me when I was still playing: "I'm already a dragoon and my Linkshell is the first linkshell to make it to Khazam. It's the reason we all do so well." (Linkshell Formed long ago by Japanese players mind you) My only response was "Damn your throat and ass must really hurt." To this day, I still don't believe he caught what I was telling him. All he said in response was "Yeah it was tough, you're gonna have to wait until your 45 to do that quest" and he did it at 29 lol.

I agree with the others though. WoW is too close to start on a game like FFXI unless there is some serious commitment. You don't really get pulled into the plot or even experience much of the world until lvl 30 with a few necessary quest under your belt. I would probably wait until Blizzard gives some solid information on beta and then, perhaps, revisit this question.

In the meantime, I'm down for whatever. If we both have the same game, we can mix it up.

I'm currently messing around a bit more in Jedi Academy. Played on a server the other day and someone had the balls to call me out. Apparently, throwing your light saber at the double saber special fags is "spamming" although he "spammed" the only move no one can defend against. He was right, I'm out of practice and for some strange reason I've started playing fair... This past weekend I even started using blasters...

Although I refuse to use Kronosfear's dirty tactics -- fun to watch him kill people though -- I could still make it to the top of the list when I'm in good form.

Gonna work on my sheep slaughtering techniques and maybe play a bit of FFXI. I can sit anywhere and chat though so I normally log off after 10 min of looking for a party.

I think U go to Services or something then go to membership. What you do is you cancel the "content id". Then you are all set from there.
