The launch of the new Discord Server for EQ was met by one of the most infmaous PvP guilds in history yesterday (yes that's us) with all kinds of interesting stories and info. Some good, some bad. As we knew would happen, DB is taking the lead with many PK points already being accumulated by it's members. Whilst the non-DBers make their usual deals and herd together for protection, they never get any kills or points and we eventually pick them off anyhow. Truly the only bad news is that Stoffer had to go away on vacation the day after the launch of the server in effect taking him out of the competition.
The good news, however, is much more prevelent as DB conquers the server with organization and downright viscious brute force. Already reports of skirmishes with DB squads are coming with this writer being part of one that I will detail here.
2 groups of DB had dominated Steamfont with perhaps 1 bogie in the zone which we basically were ignoring (we only bother with potential threats right now). Reports, however, were coming in of a force that was organizing to "woop our asses". Per usual we did not worry about such reports. One group travelled to the Mino caves whilst the other camped the windmills with level rnaging from 6 to 10. Lesa and myself were both level 8, but did not have the cash to purchase any of our spells so we remained at the group by the mills. In any case, I mashed my /who 6 20 button and HOLY SHIT there was 20+ listed in the zone! Immediatly I summoned the Mino group to the mills knowing the bogies would likely strike there. No sooner did they arrive did the battle begin!
It's been so long since I have had such a fun EQ battle with a slew of insta deaths and god mob trains, that I could not even recall to take pictures I am afraid. It DID, however, seem an aweful lot like War3 for a minute or 2 as wounded guys pulled back from the fight to heal and such. In any case, they came at us with 9 guys or so levels 8 to 9 and I believe every single one of them was killed whilst we lost 2 level 6's. Was a hellava of thing and ended up getting us some phat loots to buy our spells with :)
Now there is no guarantees on a server where you can die FOREVER just from a server crash or some internet lag, but DB is hitting good on Discord and having alot of fun. Perhaps soon enough you will see items in Everquest with the names of Darkenbane members on them....now wouldn't THAT be amusing? Oh, quick note to Speedd, yer not gonna win this server by making deals with other people and training :( You actually have to kill people yourself here. Yer' not in Kansas anymore Dorothy!
