Greetings Minions!
As the days tick down to January 12th and the end of the Player Killer contest on EQ's "hardcore" server, Darkenbane will take their official DB guild picture! This picture will honor forever those who had the heart and spirit to stand up and last to the end the most harsh gaming environment in the history of online gaming. This picture will be taken on January 10th at 8:30pm EST followed by a final PvP sweep of the server. If you cannot make it for the guild picture, please make alternate plans to have someone log your character in for the screen cap.
For those who are no longer playing or don't know what's happening on Discord, I suppose an update is in order. Within weeks of finding out Sony was opening up a server for "hardcore" pkers, Darkenbane organized and prepared. During the first few days of the server where death puts you back to level 1 and all of your items are lootable when PKd, it topped the population lists with a swarm of wanna be killers, tough guys and even...yes...Anti-Pkers (lol). At the end of the first week, the server fell to the bottom of the population lists as many fell by the waste side. Many DBers even could not bare the considerble difficulty of the server and withdrew. The first battles began in Steamfont when an organized group attacked DB (already knowing us to be a threat). Darkenbane lost 2 and killed about 10 of these guys who were level 8 to 12 (we were in the same range). Battles then raged throughout Faydwer until the Island was mostly secured. Some straggler anti DBers remained to be sure, but the Island was ours. Our first forays onto Antonica found The Ogres, Halflings, and DE/Trolls each had their own alliances. There was no fighting on Antonica other then a few roaming PKers that were mostly chased out by these huge alliances. We began attacking their "safe" zones each night until their resistance began to wain and the three alliances joined into one to battle against Darkenbane. During this last weekend, however, the resistance leaders were snuffed out in a series of battles and skirmishes where many of these enemies turned out to be worthy foes. In the end, when the dust settled, the grim Skull and Cross Bones of Darkenbane was left standing and Discord was ours.
There is 7 days left on the server to be sure, but it's clean up time now as our PK squads raom the server hunting anyone who dings above level 20. There is no place to hide as anon does not work and they know we are coming. Most gate or camp, but some fall prey to our ambushes where we leave 1 solo lowby DBer somewhere as bait in the middle of a a camped squad of DBers. When the victim comes to kill the bait, he suddenly finds himself in the middle of......death.
So through drama, hackers, accusations of cheating and incedible emotional swings, I salute those DBers (and the guys from HIV that hooked with us) who have stuck it out through this incredible server. I ask you all to come for this historic screen shot so we can immortilize our memories forever.
