The competition:
Some people have put up a really good fight on this server. Allthough they had odds seriously against them, they managed to make their mark on the daily life of many DBers. Some of them even did it with a minimum, or no cheats at all (gasp!!). On my personal list of a-ok opponents are Tibris, Aarendor and Sinpus (even though he hung out with 3 banned cheaters). These people fought us well and hard, and deserve recognition.
Ascetic would also be among them, if he didn't use the instant gate hack =(.
The cheaters:
These are folks who simply cannot win the game any other way. Why would they even consider using a hack if they thought they could win without it? Even their choice of class as a cheater is proof their gaming abilitites in EQ are limited.
Soul, for example, had the ability to port himself anywhere in the zone. That means the second Soul zones in, he can pop on top of you. This is a nasty ability for a pk one might think, but Soul never had much sucess. Why? Because Soul has the IQ of plastic garden furniture. He made a mage.
1. Mages depend on their pets, and pets don’t get warped with you. So, Soul picked a class that does not work combined with his hacks. Already at char creation, he gimped himself enourmously.
2. Soul chose a class that can’t interrupt. If I had those cheats, making a chanter would be the obvious choice. Soul on the other hand, proves that he deserves every one of the beatings his parents gave him. If you can LAND ON TOP OF SOMEONE, it’s obvious that the next challenge would be keeping people from gating. Soul never figured that one out.
The fans:
Fans are the folks that send you a tell like ”lol fag” or something similar the second you log on. There are 2 types of fans, both sharing the fact that they are obsessed with you. They make chars like Stoffersukdik or Gayenbane and spend most of their time either cussing at you in zone or in private tells. They are also 110% sure you use hacks, because ”how else does a 29 druid get from commons to butcherblock? stupid hacker”.
The first type is the permanent lvl 1. He can be found in town or in the newbie zone. He never lvls, due to his lacking game abilities, and his only purpose is pretty much to talk trash. Unlike the cheaters, these fellows are rather entertaining and amusing.
The second type is a bit higher lvlwise. He camps everytime you zone into his zone, unless of course he has 23 people with him. In that case he acts like a he is ”teh shit”, and will send you tells asking why you ported. He never takes a chance and has never been in a fight where the opponent was not ridiculously outnumbered, never misses a chance to talk trash, and remind you of the single time you gated from his 2353 man strong posse' (but fails to mention the 54346 time he camped out just because you were nearing his continent).
I think the server name "Discord" was pretty damn appropriate.
