Warcraft 3 Defense of the Ancients (Dota)

I've mentioned War3 Dota in a few posts, thought I would make a regular post to see if I can stir up any interest, I think it would be a mod people would become addicted to (like myself). I'll try to briefly summarize it here.

First off, you don't need The Frozen Throne add on to play it, in fact you have to load regular War3 to play. Dota for TFT is in Beta now.

Secondly, there is no town/army building, and no mass units to micro. It consists of 2 teams of 5 people each, Night Elf and Undead each with 15 hero's to choose from.

Each hero has his own specific skills and ultimates and strats, with the goal being to defend your home base and destroy the opponents homebase. Each base has its own defenses (towers) and spawners that send small waves of units constantly to each base (which is how you level and get gold to buy a large variety of gear for your hero).

Game relies on teamwork and knowing your hero, you get 150 gold plus for every hero kill plus ton of exp. When you die you lose half the gold you are carrying. Ganking hero's is what I truly enjoy, many hoard gold for the uber items and get REALLY pissed when the die lol.

Hoping to get enough that have the first War3 cd to have our own 5 man team and setup pubs and kill newbs, or you can set up games in the various clan channels.

dota is ok..games can last an hour+ and people leave way too much early in the game. I would like the game a lot more if the winners were determined by which team has the 5 better players, not by whoever has 1 person leave first losses =(

Heh, dota is all I play whenever I play wc3, that and zone control =P

I actually played in a few 5v5 scrimmages in dota, they tried to set up a little dota league going but I don't think it's too popular right now. Teamwork is a must in this game too, I wouldn't mind being a part of a 5 man team and I'm very experienced in this map.

They also have dota2 thirst for gamma but that sucks, it gets too complicated =P

A lot of times these games seem to be biased against the undead IMO, and your unable to mod the games for some odd reason, so... ;-(
