I have just received word that a Darkenbane player has passed away.

Scott Crossland of Phoenix, Arizona passed away on Monday February 9, 2004. (http://www.legacy.com/azcentral/LegacySubPage2.asp?Page=LifeStory&PersonId=1925934)

The names some of us knew him by were Phangg and Torquenada, he was a pleasant and dedicated member to our Planetside chapter of Darkenbane and was ready to shoot full force with us into WoW. As of right now, we have no information as to how he passed, but he will surely be missed by all who knew him.

Our thoughts go out to his family and friends.

Scott was like a brother to me, I've known him longer than I can remember. I honestly don't know what to say right now, I am still in shock. He was the best friend I ever had, always there when I needed him.

I'll get in contact with his family, see if there is anything they need, and try and find out more information. When I do, I will pass it on to you guys.

Thanks for being so supportive guys, this one really hit me hard.

Yea, Ram, please keep us updated. I know you've known him for an extensive amount of time, you have our support.

Yeah, hip, he was a big part of Force Recon, probably a bigger part of FR than he was DB. He's one of those guys everyone loves and you say "out of all the people out there, it just had to be him."

Hopefully Rambaudi will find out more.

Ouch :( This is truely sad to me too. I adored Phangg, he was one of the few people that played mine and tazzze's hours along with Spankybadboy. I thought of him like a friend and I hate to hear such bad news about him. My thoughts and prayers are with his family thru this tough time :(

Scott brought a special feeling to the group whenever he was around. Always kept the mood light and helped out wherever he was needed.

All that knew him loved him, and will keep him with us forever in our hearts.

We'll miss you torque :(

I am in great shock that this happened to Phangg, it was a privilege and an honor to play alongside him in Planetside, he and his family will be in my prayers. He was what made a group fun to be in, and was a truly genuine person. You will be missed Phangg.

Scott you will be sorely missed in Force Recon and Darkenbane. I was truly looking forward to playing with you in WOW. Team work and comraderie
were synonymous with your play style. We have all lost a good friend.
Many a night or day you sat along with me in my Vanguard and we gave
our opponents the what for! You brought to Force Recon close teamwork
and coordination, everyone had a grand time when you were online.
I am still in Shock about this sad news. I hope you know, you made
many a friend online.
Our hopes and prayers to you and your family

Even though I didn't know the guy, this is sad news and feel sorry for his loss. I myself just realized how valuable life is coming close to possibly dieing to a seizure I had a couple of days ago. Atleast it taught me a life lesson of not to take drugs. This sounded like a great guy and my regards go out to his family.

Just wanted to post here to give my regards to Scott and everyone who was a part of his life. I played with him a lot in Planetside and he was one of the nicest and most upbeat guys in the game. Had a couple personal talks with him and his easy going and kind character in the game matched his personal side. Teamspeak will never be the same because there was almost always a Phangg or Torquenada somewhere in a channel. He was very dedicated to this online community and I bet he was just as dedicated to other things in his life. Thanks for the fun times Scott, or as I knew him best - Phangg. Good luck on the other side buddy!

I never knew him either, but if he was affiliated with Darkenbane then he must have been a good guy. I'm sorry for his family, and all his friends in RL as well as ingame. Does anyone know how old he was?

Eyepatch

He was 38 years old. We still do not have a clue what happened to him, but we're still trying to find out.

Haanibal

38 is to young to die, it couldn't have been natural causes unless he had some kind of terminal illness and never let his friends online know about it :( Either way it's really sad when things like this happen to good people, but my prayers are with his friends and family.

Hello!

I'm a long-time friend of Scott's and I found this link today. I can't tell you what it meant to me to read all of your kind words about him. He truly was an angel and will be greatly missed. If you didn't know him in person, it doesn't sound like it matters, because he seemed to touch you all the same way he touched all of us in his life.

His family is trying to come to terms with their loss and I think it will be a long recovery for them. Your thoughts and prayers are appreciated.

Maithia
