Has anypne ever had a teacher who did not know how to communicate?

I am having a major problem with one of my teachers. She is about 75 years old and yells at everyone in the class. She yelled at a girl tonight for looking at another guy and she said "What you think I am stupid". Well the girl was laughing at her. I try to communicate with her and it is so hard. She seems to think she is always right. So we take a test last week and like 3 people passed and the rest failed. So I said to her tonight are you going to curve the test and she said no. Other students said well I studied hard and still failed. Her explanation was "I don't care". You should study harder. She also seems to think just because there are other people who know Spanish, that the whole class should know it.

So at the end of the class she said she wanted to talk to me. And there were like 3 students left (the ones who walk her to her car) So I say can you 3 go outside while I talk to her alone and one of them goes to me well to tell you the truth I am scared to leave you alone with her. Yeah like I am some criminal or something. The nosy bitch just wanted to listen to what I had to say.

So we started talking, I told her she compares us to the other students who know Spanish and think we should know it. She said I was the rudest person she has ever had and disrepectful because I guess I gave her my opinion about the test we took and she took it the wrong way.

First of all I am sending a email to the Dean , don't know if they will do anything but I dont like to be disrepected and treated like that in front of other students. I speak my opinion and just because people are scared or shy that is not my problem. I also told her I was going to put on the evaulation what I thought about the class and she said I threatened her. That is what the evaulations are for to tell what the teachers good and bad teaching skills are. So now that she thinks I am the rudest person and I threatened her. I can't withdraw from her class as withdraw period is over.

So now I have to attend her class and stare at the girl who thinks I am a criminal and can not be left alone with the teacher. lol Any one have any ideas? :) By the way this is the first teacher I have ever had that was irrational. It definetly is a learning experience for me. God college is getting to me. :(

Lisa my housemate had the same problem. What you do is file an official complaint with the chair of the [your faculty] and get your friends in the class to do the same. Best way to do this is speak with a few people and get an email list going around, then send out a mass email. Get people to write their thoughts regarding the class and the professor. Tell them to keep their emails civil and on the facts only. Print the emails up.

The prof can't fail the entire class though for the final mark, so keep that in mind. It looks very bad on her and will support your position if that does happen (which it probably won't).

Pretty much what Hama said - Speak to the Dean or write a letter/e-mail expressing your feelings about the instructor. Get others involved who feel the same way you do.

Im only in HS still but I have a pretty shitty spanish and math teacher..Personally I can't stand the half assed, unorganized grabasstic pieces of amphibian shit teachers who don't really teach the class, they just kind of bullshit there way through just like some students do. And in the end, you really didn't learn a lot and you wasted your time.

I don't know how it is in the US, but we don't have our own teachers examining us, it's purely external.
For educations that rely on internal examination, the law states that any student can demand to be examined by another teacher than the one assigned, and it would suprise me if the US didn't have similar rules.

My class had a similar problem with a pol science teacher back in college and got out of it ok. We sent lots of complaints about the guy, and the school did not rehire him for the next semester. Now the problem is that we had to endure a whole semester with him, and my best piece of advice is don't argue with him/her, and do exactly what they tell you. Be nice, well prepared and do your best in class, and do your complaining to the dean or whoever takes care of it.

Complaining in class and you may be punished on your marks
Complain to the administration and you may get the peron fired/transfered.

I ended up with an A and him not getting rehired =).

Well I believe my Spanish teacher is very domineering and can't take critcism. I also think she has a problem with her students as she can't handle anyone saying anything negative. If you do speak up you are rude. She was unprofessional as she said she would not answer my email if I sent her one and she was unprofessional as she wouldn't speak to me alone.

I am taking this Spanish class at a community college as it is cheaper. My teachers at Florida Atlantic University do not treat the students like this. Alot of my teachers inspire us and want us to become better teachers.

The 3 are brown nosers. 2 of them already know Spanish. The other one fails all of his tests and trying to pass by kissing her ass. (which is sad)
I got A's on all my test except for this last one. I am waiting for a reply from the Dean to see what he says I can do.

I hate professors who act like the one you have Lesa. I'm only in my first year of college and this English professor I had was so bad and didn't let you have your own opinion if it was different from his. You should just try to get this woman fired because it doesn't sound like she should be teaching. Highschool was so horrible for me because the teachers were so damn boring and basically all of them were unmotivated to teach anymore. Prime example in my life was my highschool chemistry teacher was so goddamn boring that I basically never understood anything in her class because all she did was put pages of notes on the board. My professor for chemistry in college is fun and motivated to teach chemistry so I understand the material much easier. Thus in college you shouldn't, nor should others, have to deal with professors who act like their highschool teachers. Just try your hardest to get the bitch fired by talking to the dean and having your friends do the same :) Also look for help elsewhere from somebody who actually enjoys teaching Spanish and is easy to work with.

I dunno the rules at yer college, but at my school you can get a late drop anytime you like right up until the class is almost over--assuming you can persuade a Dean of the appropriate school to sign off on it (ie give them a good reason).

Regardless, if it makes you feel better she is teaching spanish at a community college which makes her == wtfpwned :P.
