Around the world of gaming:

Well, it seems there is ANOTHER Darkenbane out there (omgwtfpwned, THERE CAN BE ONLY ONE). So now you care bears are probably thinking "oh no! more l33t PK’s to take my loot,” well.........I'll let you make up your own mind. I thought I’d post the guilds rule set/mission here so you guys can see the striking similarities. I’ve also taken the liberty of making the segments that made me giggle bold.

• Build the guild with solid players who help each other and keep each other as priorities in the world of Britannia.
• Maintain a headquarters for member use.
• No PK's as members. (this one is especially cute)
• Would never go to war unless all the Head Counsel agree to do so. One vote against would end it.
• Create and maintain a Web Page.
• We are an honorable guild - play by the rules and help only good people.
• We need to understand that we are a democratic unit, that will try to involve all members in the decision making process of the guild when possible.

Jesus what a bunch of care bears.

In other news:

Lineage2 has turned out to make baby Jesus cry because it contains the same amount of PvP as a blue EQ server. I actually physically felt myself getting dumber when playing the game, something that usually only happens when I drink. Let me explain to you exactly why:

LineageGate, the new scandal.

I was so very very impressed by Lineage 2 to begin with. My god, a pretty game, we’ll run and FFA PvP. What more could you ask for?

Well not the big fucking lie that Lineage 2 is, that’s for sure.

Let me tell you what this ”FFA” PvP really is:

Some spells cannot be used to initiate an attack on a white player, this is to prevent the attacker from gaining an advantage. If you use just 1.3% of your brain power, you’ll realize that this ONLY affects PK’s.

To attack a white player, you have to hold down a button while pressing the attack button. This also applies to melee attacks, where auto attack does not work (you have to manually make each hit). It’s my bet that there’s a Korean dev member sitting in his office, laughing at us for being stupid enough to accept such a lame feature.

You cannot dot/stun/sleep a white player. Whoever made this feature might not even be employed in the company that makes Lineage2, either that or he is severely retarded. I’m impressed with his ability to overlook the fact that this stupid rule cripples a hand full of classes in PvP.

When you die as a red, the chance of dropping an item is really increased, as is the exp loss. Also, you may re spawn on a mob that will instantly kill you. There is actually a chance of a major xp/item loss death loop. This may be to discourage PK’s, or just out of pure stupidity.

This system is so flawed/incomplete that I demand a written apology, or the first born from a Lineage 2 dev, to even consider buying this game. God, I am SO tired of games trying to sell themselves on PvP, but just turn out to be a care bear fest. Which again, reminds me of how much I hate you blue losers.

I saw this very amusing quote from the Lineage 2 Community Relations Advisor or something. What a remarkable capacity for self-delusion and/or ignorance some people have.

First off, Lineage II is a hard core PvP game. If you cannot deal with the constant risk of life in Aden, then Lineage II might be a difficult game to swallow.

The full article is here, although I haven't read it.

The whole time I was playing Lineage2 beta I only saw 2 people who were red ("PKWIZ", and some japanese person). I also saw a total of one actual fight between people who weren't red (ie consenting pvp). Hardcore~

The "Red Rule" (flagging PKs) concept first saw the light of day in Meridian59 and it totally fucked everything up -- It caused my only legit PvP death there in 5 years (I took on a known cheater thinking that the 40 other people in zone might do something more productive than lag the shit out of me but the entire crew of fuckwits just stood there making stupid emotes cause they didn't want to get flagged) and was the deciding factor in my departure to EQ.

I'm glad to hear it's been implemented in L2 sooner than later as it'll save me the trouble of downloading the client to play the NA beta.

PS We are an honorable guild - play by the rules and help only good people.

I'm sure quite a few people got a chuckle out of that one also. :p
