Yeah, we know, only a couple of DBers are lucky enough to be in the WoW beta so far which leaves 100+ of us sitting around watching each day for news or more beta accounts :( I think a lot of us were guilty of holding our breaths waiting for WoW beta and I am no exception. Hell, I was one of the guys back in November who was sure he would be playing before 2004 began! Well, here it is, April and most of us are dead from holding our breath :( I suppose I should just shut up and take it like a man because I think we all agree that WoW being a better game is better then WoW coming out when WE want it to come out.
I can only hope they don't let us down. No matter what happens, our research and efforts have gone into WoW as opposed to some of the other promising games coming up and if it blows, then our faith in Blizzard will have cost us a lot of effort and work at getting caught up in one of the other games (thus we are putting our eggs in one basket it seems). So in the mean time we watch, cross our fingers and hope the game turns out good. I would toss a review of the game for you guys to peruse (I know some of you actually give a shit what I think of the game), but my experiences in the game so far are not enough that I am in a position to do it. When I get my own beta account, however, my review will come out and that will be the telling review of whether the game will be successful for guilds such as ours.
So here we go again with the "what is DB doing NOW" article. Gay. Anyhow, we still have a good crew in Planetside (Lisa and myself even reactivated our accounts). A group has gone back to EQ Emu Guildwars (the server owner has made some reforms and apparently promised not to use his GM powers frivolously) and BF Vietnam. Speaking of BF Vietnam, I am not much of an FPS gamer, but holy shit is this game fun. The graphics are so far superior to PS that Sony might as well be using the Doom I engine in comparison. I truly have a hard time explaining it properly other then to say it really immerses you in the time and setting of the game (Vietnam War). As a big Paintball player, I can tell you this game is about as close to the thrill of shooting someone in real life as I have seen yet. Bleh, I am not gonna sit here and go on as I am sure you will read about it in magazines and such. If yer' bored, though, it will be $40 you will not regret dropping on a game.
Dragon Empires beta is beginning and it looks to be a rather promising game that we should keep an eye in case WoW drops the PvP ball. Beta sign ups are underway at http://www.dragonempires.com/ . Hopefully we can get a good crew of DBers in there to help them test, balance and fix up the game whilst we can compare what they have to offer with WoW.
Anyhow, I will keep you clowns up to date on what's going on. For now, I am gonna go wax some NVA!
Oh....before I forget....FUCK THE FCC! For those that do not know what the FCC, they are like the "speech police" in the U.S. and censor stuff they deem "indecent". While their foul stench of suppression permeates the airways in the US already, what is frightening is watching their tendrils reach out of for pay TV and...yes....the internet. Keep your eyes on it people! Don't vote for people who support their censorship!
