... General Hospital... Days of Our Lives -- My grandmother (who I lived with for most of my childhood) was a HUGE fan of daytime soaps. Just about every day I was home from school with a cold was spent with that shit droning on in the background.

Months could go by before I'd see/hear another episode of Edge of Night but I swear that it seemed like only a day or so had gone by -- The same fucking plot was still dragging on! Some new characters were added and others were gone but, by and large, it was the same damn storyline.

No... I'm not just sitting here typing out childhood memories in a drunken stupor. Believe it or not... I do have a point! ;)

I remember when DB's board (back in the GamersX days) became one of my regular haunts. I didn't care much for the site itself as it was essentially just an incredibly long page with a growing number of bland killshots thrown up but the board had already become an RZ hotspot.

There was this particularly annoying fucker named Insidiouz who'd spew all kinds of incoherent gangsta talk at me cause of a minor altercation I'd had with one of his alts (Mafiosi Gotti). Granted... The wigger babble wasn't just used by this Insidiouz fellow -- Pretty much every "PK" in existence [looks around at some of the older names here that now almost sound like members of MENSA and chuckles] spoke like a dumbass at the time.

What Sid did which was different though was... Well... Pretty much what he's still doing now -- Like him or not that boy can certainly bring boards to life.

But I digress... Whether he was a male Mexican stripper ranting about Hansondryad and getting screwed out of JBoots on this board, a female Black RPer critiquing my artistic expression on our old forum, a Nazi German/Italian over at LV.Com or any of a number of personas he's taken on over the years -- Sid's antics remain essentially the same.

So what I'm wondering is... WTF happened to the "LOL U DUNT GET DA JOKE FAG!!!@!!" speeches y'all gave me back in the day?

I noticed a similar phenomenon during Hammy's last threads here: Everyone suddenly decided she was an idiot for spewing her (quite admittedly) irrational rationalizations in defense of her friends.

Fair enough but... How come y'all thought she was the epitome of perceptive during all those years she'd make the same whacky arguments in support of DB?

In regards to Gray and Sid tho I have a couple of views on the affair. With Gray and his spin machine and his loose grasp on truth, well back in the day we were basically a gang of bloodthirsty video gamers and for the most part didnt really care about who did what in guild, we just wanted to drop people en masse and it was much for fun to do it with a gang of like-minded people, which is what Darkenbane is about, while the execution may vary from honorable warrior (Alec) to straight up thug (Kerrygetz) to all around shady player (Ennart and Babumten) the goal has always remained the same...

Grays spins were never false, nor were they entirly true. For the most part we were pretty straight up players with a bank kill or plug pulled her and there, we just kinda overlooked the handful of SEQers and so forth. He listened to and made decisions based on what the guild wanted and needed.

Then came Leesa and the needs of two slowly began to outweigh those of the many. Nowadays Grays choker is so tight he cannot make decisions on his own, even if he wanted to, hell look up the thread on Danubis trip to FLA, he does a complete 180 in a matter of days from "Sure come on over Dan, I cant wait" to "sorry traitor, we want nothing to do with you". and you will actually see it go from "I" to "we".

Now with Sid, the problem here I think is that in fact his in-game/rl personality and his message board one are sooo very different. When you chat with him online at a daily basis you can ignore his mb self cuz in truth hes a great guy, very witty and a very sincere individual. But DB hasnt really been active as far as RZ guys in quite some time, with a handful meeting back up in different games here and there. So now all we really see and converse with is Sids "lovely" MB self, the good Sid starts to fade from memory, and as many of the old guard are gone now a good number of people dont really even know the Ingame Sid.

Fuck I hated the guy for months when i first met him cuz I only knew him frommb's, then one night we met ingame, with me on a low lvl alt and himthinking Im Rykker (wanted l337 chanter buffs heh) we ended up sitting at IG's chatting for hours.

so Sid and some of the newer guys started throwing insults around and it started getting nasty then I think Sid ended up lashing out at Stoff and Dan not knowing they were in fact standing up for him and it snowballed from there. I personally and I think a good number of the older guys, still like Sid, I really do, hes one of the more faithful friends Ive had in Eq, I just tire of the routine :P But I just try to remain quiet, as I know its an act, but its hard when you see 2 friends fighting, especially when its cuz one of'em is pretending to be a fucktard :P doh outta room, and tired of typing so...

Killing ina video game is different, Since its for fun, its not quite the saem as putting someone 6ft under. If you were to go up and tell someone you like to kill people in video games and put them 6ft under i iamgine theyd probly just laugh. It's just curiousity about a phenomenon which is by no means limited to this particular board -- The exchanges between Sid and this forum's readers are pretty darn similar to the ones he had on LV's board during his falling out with Ghecko, for example.
