eq2 is going to be more successful, in terms of numbers of people signing up for it, probably by a large margin.
As to what has the better gameplay, if you like eq then you'll probably like eq2 (if it ain't broke don't fix it, is what the financial brains in the eq-team will be saying).
For PvP'ers, WoW's seemingly more aggressive approach to PvP will see it become the predominant PvP game if continued. There just aren't enough PvP'ers to make up for the vast numbers of bluebies who will love eq2 though.

if history tells us anything, it's that any game released by blizzard is going to voted by every magazine as the #1 game of the year.
WoW will get more subscribers easy. There are a lot of people out there who play ONLY blizzard games, and they are more numerous than people that played the original EQ.

EQ was trash - biggest most smelliest trash ever. EQ2 will be equally trashy, just with better graphics. So it will be major trash but not so smelly.

Agree. I think WoW will be the biggest western online game so far.

EQ2 looks cool but I'm gonna give WoW a shot too.......... that is.... unless it gets overrun by the koreans kekekekeekek ^____________^. Oh and if EQ2 puts in a loot pvp server(meaning you can loot other peoples gear in pvp) I probably won't even play WoW. No insentive to PvP other than the supposed "fun" factor that will wear out in 2 weeks=bad idea.

Aswell, they are adding reward and punishment for PvP still... It's still in beta phase, you know kinda like EQ2 will be on release.
I refuse to play another game made by that shitty company.

Well ...regardless..... if EQ2 has item loot and WoW doesn't, I'll be playing EQ2. Item loot is the best reward for pvp hands down, regardless of what company implements it onto their pvp servers.

Its only beta for wow atm but already we have finished the current end game material. Really how long would it take to get to that point again? and once you do its all war/pvp from there. Im finding that there is a shortage of end game content to fill... sure eq wasnt built in a day and took tons of expansions to give it the shear size it has now but in part a lack of end game content will spell the number of players. Alot of us can easily assume that Eq2 will have huge amounts of content (as they always have, it sells) but we also know how well sony/verant treats it customers and how good they are at fixing/balancing issues on the simplest matters. Overall if wow can keep expanding its content at a decent rate and do as they have always done in all of there previous games they will be a great success, eq2 on the other hand needs internal struggles to get fixed.. if they cant balance gameplay and offer as much as wow they will be left in the dust.
well we havnt done the new stuff yet.. with the lvl cap raised to 55 and our switch to horde, it will be a while before some of us see the new content/10ppl instances etc..
tho im nearing lvl 40 on my horde warlock now.

Sony isn't a shitty company, they just have this 1 branch Called SOE that has alot of bad problems. but then a gain i think it may just be the people who run EQ cuz PS is fun. granted patching still takes too long, and big robots = shit, but the Overhead company is very quallity in all the stuff i've delt with, save Gaming.
Carl, theres gonna be alot more end game stuff to come (as im sure you know) including Hero classes. unlike what i've seen from EQ. WoW is meant so that you don't have 1 maybe 2 characters you always play. They made it so the leveling is challenging but not so much that you only have time for 1 character. ei. they have said they expect people to have multiple high lvl character, Or remake there existing ones to perfect a template.

I have a lot more faith in blizzard then Sony. I have never played a blizzard game that I did not like. Everquest was a really terrible game when you look back on it. After playing WoW I can not believe I spent so much of my life on that shitty game. So my money is on WoW.

WHY do you people give a damn about eq2!?!?
if you READ about the game it is a NON pvp game this has been plastered all over every single official eq2 message board, there will NOT be ANY form pf pvp at release, they stated they MIGHT implement dueling and arena combat at "some point in the future" which means virtually never, they stated they have zero plans for any pvp servers.
now, given this why would anyone on these boards want to play eq2?
and before someone comes and argues with me that they are going to have pvp and pvp servers and blah blah blah because some moderator on some obscure fansite said so, even if they dpo it will just be fubared again like they did 9in EQ1
i just dont understand but hey whatever =P

WoW hands down, I play online games for PvP and only PvP. And blizzard pulls through everytime. Look for WoW to be the next biggest thing to happen since Jiffy peanut butter, or some shit like that. Blizzard is a great company, and they expand fast as hell. And not just that, but it always goes in the right direction. Unlike EQ, where every expansion the game got gayer and gayer until it was unplayable by anyone with common sense.

I am all about the loot and PvP..if eq 2 comes out swinging since they have some competition from WoW..it will be a good battle and I think both companies will work harder to out do the other..it will be a good year for mmorpg :)
