What i’ll be doing this week.
Every year, around 50 to 60 guides are selected at the business school, and they are responsible for the around 500 to 600 new students. Obviously, i’m one of those guides, and next week the new students start.
Basically, the business school has a philosophy that dropout rates depend more on social problems than academic problems. That’s where myself and about 50 others come in. Every year, we get around 150.000$ to spend on the new kids, and make sure that they bond. It’s my first time as guide there because I was a ”freshman” last year, and I though i’d share what we have planned this week.
Monday:
8am till 3pm.
You and 2 other guides recieve ”your class” and you basically do team building exercises and other things to make everyone get to know eachother.
3pm till ?
Educational day ends. All guides bring their classes to the bar and the guides entertain and everyone gets shitfaced.
Tuesday:
8am till 3pm
Academic introduction, tour of school and other stuff, done by the guides.
3pm till 5pm
Everyone meets in the bar, guides tell classes where they will be going on the ”introduction trip” the following day. People start drinking and go home to get ready for the evening.
7pm till ?
Each class goes to someones private place to drink (in my case it will be me and dans apartment). Usually stay till around 10, when everyone meets down at the docks. There, boats will be waiting to take us a pier where we have rented this big club. Club closes at 5am.
Wednesday:
9am till 11 am
Everyone meets at the business school with their bags packed. Busses are waiting to pick everyone up, and we usually go 2 or 3 classes at a time. We have rented camp sites around denmark, and it’s basically to get the kinds closer together without any distractions. Last year my class went with 2 other classes, and we were roughly 70 to 80 people out in the middle of nowhere. Basically you throw a big party.
The day is spent on activities and there is usually some costume eventduring the evening.
Thursday:
Guides give academic information and serious stuff goes on for a few hours. Usually the guides and students are drunk, so no one really remembers what’s going on. More activities and entertainment and more costume shit and drinking.
Friday:
Busses are back at the business school by 3, and everyone goes home to rest a few hours.
Everyone meets during the evening and go to another club we have rented.
Saturday:
The day of the ”start of the semester party”, which is a party at the business school that marks the new year. Only new students and guides are invited.
Sunday:
I plan to nurse my hangover.
Basically this goes on for another week or two, just not organized by the school but by the students themselves, and the first few weeks of school are really really cool.
Won’t be around much next week, and I thought i’d tell you why.
