The Toronto Star published one of the net's latest articles taking a look at the real-life economic aspects of EverQuest and MMORPGs. For an excerpt, please read the following:

So he picked one of EverQuest's communities and studied 616 auctions of virtual goods by its citizens. He also polled 3,619 of them to find out about their auctioning habits.

The result? EverQuest's platinum piece is equal to 0.01072 of a U.S. dollar. That's more than the lira and the yen. And EverQuest's hourly wage is equal to about $3.42 (U.S.). Not a bad day's pay for slaying dragons and quelling the undead.


So a platinum piece is worth more then the lira, that is too damned funny....
