Sound problem

When I try and talk in TS or Vent people can hear what I'm listening to, but not what I'm saying. For example I can turn on some music on my comp and then try and talk. Instead of hearing me they will hear my music.

I made sure microphone was checked and they're plugged in right (not that it matters, the software that came with mobo allows me to change that)

Any ideas?

go in volume control, options, properties and scroll down to see if microphone is checked in the box

I think I found the problem. I need to set it up under the speech recognition tab in the speech settings in the control panel.. Problem is I don't have that tab because I don't have MS office or word.
