I would like to hear everyones opinon on this one. I have heard many talk of going to SB when it is released. It seems to be everyones future hope for a "better" PvP game. I don't know much about SB or its concepts, would anyone like to expiate?

Thanks,
Hyacinth

we won't know till the NDA is lifted. i read there is still gonna be leveling. But from what i understand as long as there is no "Uber" template every character will be vastly different even if they are the same class. They also have some good pvp guilds in the beta test. Also, the Shadowbane back story is really good and much better then any other game out right now.

I think Sb will be pretty damn good when it comes out, Wolfpack actually seems to give a shite about the game and what people think/want from a mmorpg. There are lots of classes already but when you add in a score of disciplines (which i think you can have upwards of 3 disciplines going at a time, not sure tho) and yer gonna have a huge variance among characters of the same class...

And players themselves will have the chance to play "boss" mobs, I ferget what they call'em but uber characters/mobs that are player run that help keep the story going on quests and so on...

Only thing ive head about the pvp is that it is fun.... so far :P

Thing is though, with the company caring about what the people think is they sometimes let it get out of hand. Mythic did that as soon as every EQ addict started shouting "NERF NERF" because the game was different then EQ and they couldnt adapt. After a while Mythic listened and now you got a game where thier hardest goal to reach is to balance the classes because they screwed around with the "nerf beat-em stick" too much.

the game looks good i think, least we know it isnt vaporware, and this game is the first one to have been made specifically for pvpers so.......

the game looks to be the most immersive one so far, with the ability to completely change the landscape of the game through war etc, own your own player run cities, classes/discipline combo look like theyll let you be anything you want almost, much moreso then daoc where there were only 3 or 4 at most different ways to build a char.

from the start things will undoubtedly be somewhat shaky, as any new game is from release so should expect that for first few months. if they outright LIE their asses off to the customers advertising as having certain features in the game that arent there upon release let alone 8 months after (aka daoc) then i think it wont last long, but hopefully they havent been fucking off for the last 3 years of development and will release a quality product for once.

what it will all come down to though is how well the pvp is balanced, and if they cave into the handful of retards on message boards who cant learn how to play their class and scream to nerf them all like mythic did subsequently ruining the game for everyone but midgard.

i think SB has much more potential then daoc for the best pvp rpg, everquest will be shit in comparison even if SB sucks totally, DAOC is 100 times better then everquest in every aspect except the ability to actually hurt your enemies, but it still had the PVE bullshit intertwined with it and pvp had no purpose so everyone went back to EQ mostly. SB though will be all about pvp, and have real rewards (such as cities, territory, power etc) for pvp so i think it will completely kill the EQ pvp servers without a doubt (and if not the next 5 game scheduled for release in the coming months will finish it off)except for people who havent heard of SB and the ruin types.
everquest itself i dont see dieing at all in the forseeable future as only 4 of the 30+ servers they have are pvp, and that is what most of the games coming out now are catering to, at least in some sense.

the only thing ive heard of that i dont like about shadowbane so far is the point and click movement , which sucks ass imo (although supposedly its more flowing like age of empires, instead of a pain in the ass like legends of kesmai), but they may be changing that.

Some members of wolfpack are ex origin employees that quit when origin fucked over the noto system (took away dreads and gave UO that gay faction system).
